Jim Callahan vs Ben Harris - Case Closed

Callharris

If you were wondering what happened with the challenge Ben Harris laid out to paranormalist Jim Callahan with his remote viewing experiment (see earlier post here) you may be interested to know that the challenge to Jim has ended. SEE HERE

"Previously, I had stated that any more distractions like this would result in the challenge being rescinded. Well, consider it rescinded. I will no longer try to nail jelly to your wall, Jim." - Ben Harris

However, the Remote Viewing Challenge continues with more attempting to win the money - you can read all about it HERE

Salute to Houdini

On February 17, 1910, Harry Houdini was in Melbourne and performed a sensational underwater escape in the Yarra River. READ A GREAT ACCOUNT OF IT HERE.

Back in 1989 I performed a tribute to Houdini's escape in the Yarra River here in Melbourne to promote 'Magic Week'. I was bound in 100' of rope, tied into a sack, nailed into a wooden trunk which was chained shut and then lowered into the river.

Now twenty years later, a man who was only 7 years old when I had my dunking, is performing a tribute of his own.

On February 17 Cosentino will be chained to a concrete block and be dropped into the much clearer waters of the Melbourne Aquarium and perform his escape in full view of 200 lucky spectators.

It's a brilliant idea which I'm sure will be a huge success!

You can read all about it in this morning's Herald Sun or CLICK HERE TO READ IT ONLINE

Nicholas Johnson on 3RRR tonight

Lawrence Leung and co-host Daniel Moore explore the world of mischief, from the silly to the satirical to the deviously dodgy. Troublemakers joining us this evening include historian Ian McIntyre (author of "How to Make Trouble and Influence People"), TV director Craig Melville (of Chaser's WOE & Safran shows), cake hoaxers Hotham Street Ladies and the honest conman Nicholas Johnston (Nine's Real Hustle) will try to swindle us live on-air.

7-8pm on 3RRR 102.7FM

Catchpenny & Psychic Surgery

What a great Catchpenny last night!

Any fears of doing a show in January proved unfounded last night with a packed house enjoying another night of Catchpenny craziness at The Catchpenny Club.

Psychic surgery1

Nicholas J Johnson introduced us to a cavalcade of acts including Kamal Bhushan, with slick sleight of hand in his brand new suit (don't ask him where he got the shoes), Johnathan Schuster with some great stand up comedy with a very original feel, Marcus Finlay with scientific demonstrations that looked like magic, Asher Treleaven with comedy that will most likely make the 'black label' edition of the TV series, and The Guru (hmmm, I wonder who that was) with extremely messy psychic surgery.

Nicholas certainly worked hard too challenging an audience member to a game of mousetrap, filling the "jerk jar" full of money, giving us a preview of what he'll be selling at the ASM auction, and providing an uplifting ending to the show with his side kick "Admiral" Tom.

If you weren't there, you missed a great night but fear not - the next Catchpenny Club is February 23 and bookings are now open by emailing sleightofhand@conman.com.au or calling 0409461776

Next month features magician Patrick McCullagh, who just happened to be there last night filming the latest edition of AUSTRALIAN MAGIC NEWS

You'll be able to catch some clips from last night, along with some great interviews, very soon.
