Deal or No Magic

What a surprise! I just turned on the TV to watch 'Smackdown' and there was a man on 'Deal or No Deal pulling a deck of cards out of his mouth.

It was none other that Michael Ilic (aka Mickey Wild), uniquely described by Andrew O'Keefe as "Meat packer and part-time magician".

Michael aimed to get at least $100,000 to set himself up in Las Vegas with his own show.

Unfortunately, Michael specialises in comedy magic and not mentalism... the first two cases lost him $200,000 and $75,000, and he ended up with $8,000 for a Vegas holiday instead.

But he was very entertaining!

A new approach to Telemarketing?

Brendan Croft told me about this Telemarketing call he got last night.

His daughter Hannah answered, listened to the Indian chap on the line, shrugged and handed to it to Brendan.

The Telemarketer began his plea for Brendan to switch phone companies and Brendan explained:

"I just changed phone company so I'm not interested"

"I would ask you to listen, my humble request"

"Well it's no point as I'm not going to change companies again so soon"

"Well go to hell"   *click*

I got one today too. The chap told me I was the manager of the company, then after I called out to Sue-Anne

"It's him again, he's called back, can we trace the call?"

He replied

"Are you stupid or something?"  *click*

Light FM dinner

Last week ended up being quite busy for us, but the highlight was definitely performing at the LIGHT FM Fundraising Dinner in Toorak.

It was a great night of entertainment and an opportunity to catch up with quite a few people we hadn't seen in years.

Around 7.45 did a brief 20 minute spot featuring the microphone levitation, toast, floating table and the arms routine with Peter Hitchener as 'The Great Whammo'. He was a great sport and a huge hit with the crowd.

Also on the bill were The Melbourne Gospel Choir and band Grace Note plus, of course, a host of Light FM on-air personalities.

Surprise guest was Harry Houdidn't who, despite the evening going about 45 minutes longer than originally planned, stilled wowed them at the late time slot of close to 11pm.

Hopefully we'll get some pictures from this event up here very shortly.
